Thoughts

Mal was my pilot mentor throughout a difficult few years in the PHP after losing my FO role during Covid. Each time we spoke it was apparent that he had genuine care and concern for the pilots under his mentor umbrella. He was a very motivational man who was full of encouragement and positivity. He worked very hard for us and that is something I am incredible grateful for. I am very saddened to read the announcement of his passing, and send my condolences to his loved ones at this time.

I joined BA with Mal and I couldn’t have asked for someone more fun and entertaining to have joined with. I genuinely don’t think I’ve laughed so much, I wasn’t sure I was taking my new job seriously enough! So many fun memories. Much love to you Mal and the family, a true loss, but what a man. Legend!

I am so saddened to have just received the news of Mal’s passing. I looked up in my logbook to see when we first flew together. It was 2002, we went to the States and he got us kicked out of a karaoke bar in Gander by doing his own version of the Beatles song, It’s Been a Hard Days bas*@rd Night, and he’d Been Working Like a bas*@rd Dog. The lights in the bar went off at that point but no one could keep Mal down, that just made the whole event better. Time spent with him was always memorable, and always for the right reasons. My heartfelt condolences to friends and family on your irreplaceable loss.
